THE_CONCEPT

TownHall Europe is so much more than an event venue. It’s a leadership centre welcoming the exchange of ideas and information helping a new generation of young leaders and responsible citizens to develop the skills and tools needed to make informed choices.

Using technology to link Brussels to the rest of the world, this unique venue brings together citizens and leaders to discuss the big issues, think outside the box, accelerate engagement and collaborate to tackle the main challenges facing today’s volatile world.

TownHall Europe pays tribute to Etienne “Stevy” Davignon, one of the most colourful and influential Belgian & European leaders in recent history, whose charisma, pragmatic leadership style and social convictions have earned him the respect of many. As the head of cabinet to EU Founding Father Paul-Henri Spaak, a Belgian minister of state, a former vice-president of the European Commission, and a (former) Chairman of numerous companies and non-profits, he has made his mark across a range of fields, and in football, as a Board Member of his team, Anderlecht.

In February 2019, United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, expressed his support to the initiative in a letter shared at the opening of Townhall Europe: “Perhaps the most precious – and increasingly scarce- resource in our world today is dialogue. I welcome your focus on bringing people together to broaden understanding, share ideas, and find common ground.”

TownHall Europe is grateful for the support of its co-initiator Friends of Europe, the Brussels-based thinktank, and of its founding circle of friends.

We are also grateful to the following members and users of the centre for their trust in TownHall Europe *
